Privacy Policy

Last updated:

We believe privacy is a right, not an afterthought. This page explains exactly what data Mockly collects, why we collect it, and how you stay in control.

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide the Mockly service. Specifically:

  • Analytics data: We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-friendly, open-source analytics platform. Umami records anonymous page views and referral sources. It does not collect IP addresses, device fingerprints, or any personally identifiable information (PII). No cross-site tracking occurs.
  • Account data (optional): If you choose to sign up for a Mockly account via Firebase Authentication, we collect your email address and display name (if provided through a Google or email sign-in). This data is used solely to manage your account and saved drafts.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for advertising or commercial purposes. Ever.

Cookies

Mockly uses a minimal, purposeful set of cookies:

  • Authentication cookies (functional): If you are signed in, Firebase sets a secure session cookie to keep you logged in across visits. This cookie is strictly necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled if you use an account.
  • Analytics cookies (optional): Umami Analytics may set a minimal cookie to distinguish unique visits within a session. This cookie contains no personal data and is not used for tracking across sites. You can decline it via our cookie banner without losing any functionality.

We use no advertising cookies, no retargeting cookies, and no third-party tracking pixels of any kind. Your browsing stays on Mockly.

How We Use Your Information

Any data we hold is used exclusively for the following purposes:

  • Providing the service: Your account email and display name allow you to save drafts, access your history, and restore work across devices.
  • Improving our tools: Anonymous, aggregate analytics data (e.g., which editors are most used) helps us prioritise features and fix issues.
  • Preventing abuse: Authentication data helps us detect and prevent misuse of the platform (e.g., spam or automated scraping).

We do not use your data for automated profiling, targeted advertising, or any purpose beyond operating and improving Mockly.

Data Storage

All account data (email, display name, saved drafts) is stored in Firebase, which runs on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Google Cloud maintains industry-standard physical and logical security controls, including encryption at rest and in transit (TLS/SSL). Firebase is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified.

Anonymous analytics data is processed by Umami on its own servers and is not linked to any user identity stored in Firebase.

We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Third-Party Services

Mockly integrates with a small number of carefully selected third-party services:

  • Firebase Authentication (Google): Used to handle user sign-in and session management. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Firebase. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
  • Umami Analytics: A privacy-first, open-source analytics tool. Umami is GDPR-compliant and does not collect or store personal data. No cookies are required for basic analytics. See Umami Privacy Policy.

We do not integrate with Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, Hotjar, or any other behavioural tracking service.

Children's Privacy

Mockly is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@mockly.fun and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data under laws such as the GDPR (EU) or CCPA (California). These include:

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion: You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. This permanently erases your email, display name, and all saved drafts within 30 days.
  • Right to correction: You may update your display name or email via your account settings.
  • Right to object: You may decline optional analytics cookies at any time via the cookie banner, with no impact on service functionality.

To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about your data, email us at support@mockly.fun. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
